Directed by the late Mohd Zain Hussein, Timeless Temiar is a story of Anjang, the headman’s daughter, and Pandak, a village youth, and their developing relationship of love and trust set in the village of the indigenous people of Temiar.
Timeless Temiar won many awards in 1957: Best Non-Dramatic Picture award at the Asian Film Festival; Diploma of Merit at Edinburgh and Venice Festivals; Certificate of Participation at Melbourne, and received high praise at the Berlin Film Festival. It was a best-seller on the commercial and TV circuits in America, Canada and the UK, distributed by MGM.
Guest Speaker: Hassan Muthalib
Hassan Muthalib was with Filem Negara Malaysia (formerly known as the Malayan Film Unit - MFU) for 26 years variously as a (self-taught) film titling designer, animator and award-winning film director before going on optional retirement in 1995 as Head of Design. In his spare time, he viewed the films that were made by the MFU from the 1940s to the 1960s.
